Based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, Dare to LeadTM is an empirically based courage-building program designed to engage leaders in real conversations about being brave and building courageous cultures.
The most significant finding from Dr. Brown’s latest research is that courage is a collection of four skill sets that are teachable, observable, and measurable:
This course is an opportunity to learn and practice these skills with a community of others devoted to changing the world of work. This is a highly interactive class with full group discussions, silent reflections, active exercises, small group discussions, and videos. Student to instructor ratio will be no more than 10 to 1.
Erica’s mission is to empower others so they may thrive. Obsessed with impact, this pLink Leadership Senior Executive Coach and facilitator, veteran, nonprofit leader, and fiercely loyal client champion is transforming the old paradigm of accomplishment at personal cost. Erica earned her Professional Certified Coach designation from the International Coaching Federation and master’s degrees in Applied Positive Psychology (Penn) and in Education (SDSU). Her work has been recognized by the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame, the Southeastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce, and the International Society for Performance Improvement. Rebecca has long been captivated by human potential. Known for her ability to synthesize complex and highly charged data quickly and compassionately, she is a sought-after speaker and trainer. Her clients have described her as down-to-earth, smart as s**t, seriously funny, and refreshingly clear without judgment. Rebecca started out in the world of wilderness leadership development, spent many years working clinically as a psychotherapist in private practice, and then returned to her original love: the wilds of interpersonal networks – which she currently serves through leadership coaching and group facilitation. This integral member of pLink Leadership is also a spouse, mother of two, completely untrained dancer, comic-in-residence in her nuclear family, and devotee to whole-hearted living.
DeDe Halfhill is a Colonel in the United States Air Force and a Georgetown-certified Executive Leadership Coach with more than 25 years of experience leading teams and large complex organizations. Her passion is supporting leaders who choose to step into the arena and out of their comfort zones. A fierce believer in the power of awareness and connection through shared language, DeDe has been following the work of Dr. Brené Brown since 2011. She successfully advocated for incorporating the Dare to Lead™ course into a program to prepare Air Force Squadron Commanders. Her initiative to address soldier loneliness was featured in chapter 3 of the book Dare to Lead™. DeDe will lead us in a conversation and share her hard earned wisdom about how to apply these concepts with ourselves, and within our organizations.
The Dare to Lead course provided the opportunity to grapple with how fear of vulnerability prevents authentic leadership. I’ve been able to use the lessons to be a more confident and effective leader while also bringing my whole self to the workplace.Julianne

PLINK LEADERSHIP FACILITATORS:
Although the Dare to Lead™ training was released in 2019, pLink Leadership has been bringing Dr. Brené Brown’s work to organizations since 2014 alongside our original content. pLink Leadership Certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitators also actively work as one-on-one executive leadership coaches, bringing a depth of experience to support leaders as they apply these concepts in their daily lives. Our team is able to bring the curriculum to life through story and inquiry, placing this rich curriculum in your hands so that you can readily take your learnings out into the world.
As a woman in a man’s career x 2 (military and law enforcement), we get so used to putting on armor that it becomes instinctual. We can’t show weakness. I learned so much about myself by digging deep and doing some tough introspection…the effort was so valuable. I’m a more resilient, courageous, empathetic and curious human than I was before DTL. My husband, friends and colleagues have noticed this positive change.Tara Knope
Who should attend?
One of the incredible things about this curriculum and our skilled facilitators is that the content will meet you where you are. pLink Leadership has delivered Dare to Lead™ to profound effect with corporate executives, active duty military and spouses, teachers, and nonprofit leaders. If you want to show up with more courage in your life and work, this course is for you.
I am a coach; can I use this content with my clients?
Yes! Absolutely. Although this course will not certify you to certify others, the course will deepen your understanding and build skills around vulnerability, empathy, shame, values, trust, difficult conversations (a.k.a. rumbling), and resilience (a.k.a. learning to rise). You can use your personal experience and knowledge gained in class, as well as any of the publicly available content (see: https://daretolead.brenebrown.com), with your clients. Through the personal reflections and the engaging exercises, you will incorporate the content “in your bones” and be better able to model unarmored, courageous leadership for your clients.

Who is Brené Brown?
In her own words: “RESEARCHER. STORYTELLER. TEXAN. I’m a research professor at the University of Houston where I hold the Huffington Foundation – Brené Brown Endowed Chair. I’ve spent the past two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy. I’m the author of five #1 New York Times bestsellers: The Gifts of Imperfection, Daring Greatly, Rising Strong, Braving the Wilderness, and Dare to Lead. My most recent book was released in October 2018 and is the culmination of a seven-year study on the future of leadership.”
What is pLink Leadership?
pLink Leadership has one big goal: to accelerate positive change by fusing the sciences of human nature with the discipline of leadership to transform the world of work. We call this “the positivity link,” and it is the origin story of our name – and our daily practice.
Positive leadership is not rainbows and unicorns. It takes courageous curiosity, a high tolerance for vulnerability, self-awareness, perspective, and perseverance. We exist to inspire our clients to become deliberately-developing positive leaders, and to walk that path alongside them, providing a steady source of creative tension between what is and what can be.
We believe positive leaders are a multiplier effect – positive leadership is good business.
